John Musser is an API and big data industry expert who helps companies use technology as a bridge to connect with partners and customers. He founded the leading online API resource ProgrammableWeb (acquired by Alcatel-Lucent) and API Science, a cloud service for monitoring API performance and availability. John has consulted on API strategy with clients including Google, Microsoft, AT&T, Salesforce and the World Bank. He is currently VP Engineering for Basho Technologies, creators of NoSQL database Riak and distributed systems platforms for big data and IoT. Previously, he has shipped six award-winning software products working with companies that include Credit Suisse, Viacom/MTV and Bell Labs. He is a frequent conference speaker and often cited in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal and Wired. John has taught at Columbia University and the University of Washington, and he received his MA from New York University.
